Tip On Using A Choker Chain

Tip On Using A Choker Chain

Using a choker chain on a dog is not cruel
if used correctly. It is one way of getting
his attention.

You should get a choker chain that is bigger
than your dog's neck. This is not a collar
that stays on without you being around. It
is called a choker chain, because when you
apply pressure it does just that, it chokes
the dog. But when you release the pressure,
the chain should also release. You only
use this as a training tool. And you only
choke the dog for a second or two...this is
not a long time application. You just get
his attention and then release the choke.

When you put the choker chain on your dog,
make sure that it makes the letter "P" when
you look at it. Slip the wide part of the
"P" over the dog's neck. When you pull it
tight and then release, it should also
release. If you have it on upside down, the
choker chain will not release and then it
will be a cruel tool.

This has been a great tool for me and Scooby.
He walks quietly by my side, and does not
run out away from me unless allowed to do so.

It has taken all the pulling out of our walks.

If you haven't tried a choke chain, or a choke
collar, and you have a rambunctious dog, you
might want to try it.

Again, the choke chain is much longer than a
regular collar. You don't leave this on your
dog when you are not working with him, and
it should release when you release it.

Have fun with your dog.
